City’s first bamboo theme park to come up on the Yamuna floodplain-The Hindu-10-08-2022

Context :

LieutenantGovernor V.K. Saxena on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the city’s first bamboo theme park titled “Baansera” on the Yamuna floodplain.

In detail :

AIM :

It aims to supplement the Capital's "much-needed public spaces" and to ensure that "the rich biodiversity of the floodplain is preserved and maintained.

The entire area has been divided into two sections:

1. Bamboo recreation-greenway zone.

2. Bamboo plantation-riverine plantations.

FEATURE :

   25,000 special varieties of bamboo saplings procured from Assam will be planted at the park.

   The theme park will be spread across 10 hectares of floodplains, south of the NH-24, on the western banks.

   
   


3. 
   

   It will include amenities designed with bamboos, such as kiosks, huts, a watchtower, and public seating in the greenway area.
