CONTEXT:
A farmer harvesting kinnows on a farm on the outskirts of Faridkot in Punjab.
BACKGROUND :
-The 'Kinnow' is a high-yield mandarin hybrid cultivated extensively in the wider Punjab region of India and Pakistan.
-It is a hybrid of two citrus cultivators king(Nobilis) and willow leaf(citrus and deliciosa)-The first was developed by Howard B.Forest, at the University of California citrus hybrid for commercial cultivation in 1935.
-Fazilka in Punjab is known for the bestquality kinnow.
-2.6% of kinnow export to target the market of developed.
Kinnow fruit seeds are planted from the month of august –October.
